Kenya Fishing Flies Limited has tied fishing flies in Kenya for more than twenty years — a country of extraordinary biodiversity and some of the world’s most celebrated fishing water. Family-owned, entirely hand-tied, and shipped to anglers, lodges and fly shops worldwide.
Kenya Fishing Flies Limited began, as most good fly businesses do, at a bench. Two decades later we are still family-owned and still tying by hand — sourcing our materials in Kenya, training our own tyers, and building every fly to the standard we would fish ourselves.
Our tyers work with techniques passed down through generations, and with an eye on how fly tying is changing. Traditional methods give a fly its durability and proportion; modern materials and thinking keep our patterns relevant to the fish anglers are actually chasing.
We care about consistency — hook quality, sizing, finish — because a fly has to perform the same way every time it reaches the water. That is the part of the work we refuse to rush.
Responsibly sourced materials, fair wages for the people who tie with us, and practices that respect the waters we all fish.
The standards behind every dozen that leaves the bench — unchanged whether the order is for one box or for a season’s supply.
Every fly is tied by an experienced hand and checked before it is packed. We measure the work in dozens that fish properly, not in units pushed out of a door.
Generations of tying knowledge, kept alive on our benches and passed on to the tyers who join us — so the methods outlast any one pair of hands.
Responsibly sourced materials, fair pay for local communities, eco-friendly practice, and a share of what we sell given back to conservation — because the future of the sport depends on the health of the water.
From hatch matches to a shop’s own house pattern, we tie to specification — in the sizes, colours and quantities your water and your customers demand.
Designed to mimic natural insects and baitfish, in a range of sizes and colours suited to different species and conditions — effective flies that hold together, season after season.
Also available: jigs, egg patterns, buzzer sets and squirmy worms.
A small selection from our barbless range. Every fly shown is tied in our own workshop — no stock imagery.
Our tyers are craftspeople first. Many learned the trade from family and have been at the bench for years; we train newer tyers in the same methods so that the knowledge stays in the workshop rather than leaving with any one person.
That in-house training is also what lets us take on volume. We tie everything from a single dozen to large wholesale runs, and we plan capacity around the order rather than the other way round — the standard of the work does not change with the quantity.
Lodges, tackle shops, retailers, guides and individual anglers come back season after season. We would rather earn that return with honest work and clear communication than with a sales pitch.
A standard pattern, a custom design, or a bulk order for the season ahead — send us the details and we will come back with quantities, timelines and pricing.
